BALTIMORE COUNTY, MARYLAND : Plants and People Sunday Free Educational Program Series

Baltimore County, Maryland recently issued the following announcement.

The Plants and People Program is open to the public and all visitors are welcome! The programs are interactive, informal and experiential opportunities for visitors to learn about plants, Baltimore gardening, and the conservatory environment. Each week is geared towards a different age group.

Sundays, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., Free, donations appreciated.

1st Sunday of the Month - Ask a Master Gardener - find out how to keep your plants happy and thriving. Bring your gardening questions!

2nd Sunday of the Month - Exploration Station for elementary school age kids - experience fun and educational hands on horticulture activities. (children must be accompanied by an adult)

3rd Sunday of the Month - Sprouts for pre-k age kids - introduce your children to the workd of plants with arts and crafts. (children must be accompanied by an adult)

4th Sunday of the Month - Science Demonstration for all ages - Join Dr. Alan Stone for demonstrations and items on display. Explore the interconnection between plants, science, and even engineering.

5th Sunday of the Month - Free Guided Tours - A guided tour of the Rawlings Conservatory is a virtual trip around the world and through history! The Palm House and orchid room are spectacular examples of Victorian architecture and culture, built to exhibit plant specimens collected during a time of avid world-wide exploration. The greenhouses mimic the growing conditions in tropical, Mediterranean, and desert biomes. Join us for an in-depth look at our collection of plants and experience first-hand their connections and contributions to the food, medicines, and economic vitality of our earth.

Presented in partnership with the Baltimore City Master Gardeners and Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering.
