University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center issued the following announcement on Dec. 12.
On the sixth day of Healthcare St. Joseph’s gave to me… Spiritual Care!
Many patients who come to University of Maryland
St. Joseph Medical Center have a tradition of faith that is very important to them. Our goal is to honor those traditions while they are here. All faith traditions, Christian as well as non-Christian, are welcomed and honored at UM St. Joseph.
We believe the well-being of the patient may be helped through conversation, prayer, meditation, music, ritual, and spiritual care services. Our ecumenical staff of chaplains are available as a resource for patients and their families during times of waiting, diagnosis and decision-making, in times of joy, pain and grief, in anxiety and fear, in searching for meaning and as a comforting presence.
Chaplains visit patients on a regular basis. A chaplain may be contacted through the nursing staff, or by calling the Spiritual Care department at ext. 1109. For more information, please visit https://www.umms.org/…/patients…/for-patients/spiritual-care
