Baltimore County issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.
Local photographer and nature enthusiast Mike McCloskey captured this incredible shot at Cromwell Valley Park a few days ago. He said: "One of my favorite late summer birding activities is watching green herons hunt. This one, stretched to the limit, struck at the dragonfly just after this photo was taken, but missed."
