SALISBURY, Md. – A new grant opportunity is available for organizers planning events in Downtown Salisbury.

The Downtown Salisbury event grant fund will provide selected organizations with $500 to $3,000 to help with costs associated with the production of events during 2023-2024. These funds were applied for and received by the City from the Operating Assistance Grant program at the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.

This grant was established to better connect local residents with the Downtown corridor, to energize the local economy, to build meaningful partnerships and to elevate community stakeholders.

“This program offers a great opportunity to make a wide variety of events possible, which will bring more people to Downtown Salisbury,” said Laura Soper, director of business development for the City of Salisbury.

Project applicants must demonstrate a well-thought-out event experience that considers safety, anticipated attendance, marketing considerations, likelihood of the event continuing, and inclusion. Grants will go to organizations, not individuals.

Applications for event funding must be submitted in tandem with a Downtown Salisbury event permit, available at bit.ly/DowntownEventPermit. The grant application is available for inclusion with the Downtown Salisbury event permit. The grant applications will be vetted by a committee and awarded competitively.

Applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the event, and if selected, funds will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis only. There is no deadline; the grants will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The grant application can be found at bit.ly/DTEventGrantApplication. For questions, contact Laura Soper at 410-677-1915.
