Goucher College issued the following announcement on June 15.
The Coach of the Year for the 2017-18 All-Goucher Team is men's golf head coach Hunter Brown, who this past season made history from the start with a young Gophers squad.
The historic run began for Brown and the Gophers in September, when on Sept. 11, Goucher began intercollegiate play in men's golf for the first time by taking part in the Bay Creek Invitational in Cape Charles, Va.
After finishing fourth in the program's inaugural event, the Gophers collected their first tournament win in program history on Oct. 15 at the Revolutionary Golf Classic in Elkton, as they bested Stevens Tech by seven shots to win the tournament.
As the season went into the spring months, the Gophers continue to post impressive finishes, leading all the way to the inaugural Landmark Conference Championships at Glenmaura Country Club in early May.
There, Brown's Gophers made even more history, as they captured the Landmark crown with a two-day score of 649 (315-334) to best host Scranton by three shots. Two of Brown's players went on to earn All-Landmark Conference First Team honors in the event, as well.
The Landmark Conference Championship earned Brown and the Gophers a bid into the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, N.C., where Goucher ended an incredible first year of intercollegiate play with a 35th place finish.
For his efforts, Brown was named the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year in his first year as a collegiate head coach. He also guided the Goucher women's golf team to a third-place finish in their end of the Landmark Conference Championships, as well.
The coach of the All-Goucher Team is selected by a panel of head coaches and athletic administrators and represents the most outstanding head coach during an academic year.
