Theatre

The Community College of Baltimore County issued the following announcement on June 11.

Cockpit in Court summer theatre, in residence at CCBC Essex, kicks off its 2018 summer season with eight weeks of live shows. Broadway productions Avenue Q and Laughter on the 23rd Floor will be featured in June, and productions in July include Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. Additionally, a children’s theatre presentation of Disney’s The Lion King, Jr. will be featured in July. Tickets for all Cockpit in Court shows are available at the CCBC Box Office.

Cockpit in Court show schedule, June 15 – July 1:

Avenue Q is a Tony award winning musical filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, including puppets. It is a unique show that has become an audience favorite wherever it is performed. The show addresses humorous adult issues and is similar to a beloved children's show, featuring a place where puppets are friends, monsters are good and life lessons are learned.

Tickets are $14 to $22.

Laughter on the 23rd Floor, written by playwright and screenwriter Neil Simon, was inspired by his youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, which ran on the NBC network in the 1950’s. It features the attendant comic drama of a harried writing staff frantically scrambling to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman "Max Prince.”

Tickets are $15 to $17.

For more information and tickets, contact the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787) or visit www.ccbcmd.edu/cockpit.

Theatre patrons requiring special accommodations should make a request when purchasing tickets.

Disclaimer: Avenue Q and Laughter on the 23rd Floor are not recommended for children.
