Artsandcrabsfest

Towson University issued the following announcement on July 20.

Baltimore’s annual free arts festival is nation’s largest

Towson University has long been a part of the Baltimore-area landscape. This weekend, members of the TU community will also be a part of Artscape, traditionally held in several of the city’s downtown neighborhoods from July 20–22

College of Fine Arts and Communication faculty members Ursula West Minervini, Nora Sturges, Greg McLemore and Bridget Sullivan will be exhibiting their artwork throughout the Artscape venue network.

According to its website, Artscape is the nation’s largest free arts festival, featuring more than 150 artists, designers and craftspeople. It attracts more than 350,000 attendees over three days.

West Minervini—an adjunct professor in the Department of Art + Design, Art History and Art Education—and her partner Jonathon Poliszuk will be exhibiting and selling original prints, artist books and comics as part of the MICA Art Market: Artscape Edition in the Brown Center. The duo forms the printmaking studio Pellinore Press.

Sturges, a professor and area head of painting and drawing, will show her work in Open During Construction at the Dolphin Design Center at MICA and the C. Grimaldis Gallery’s Summer ’18 exhibition.

Studio art adjunct professor McLemore will exhibit paintings from his Baltimore Ruins series and Nagasaki City group as well as a few smaller, more surreal works at bar/restaurant XS.

Sullivan, a professor and director of the interactive media design post-baccalaureate program, is co-curating the Finding Sanctuary exhibit at the Hamilton Gallery with Jessica Devilbiss ’18.

Recent art graduates Devilbiss, Rachel Amos ’18 and Elli Hernandez ’18 are included in the exhibition, along with studio art MFA alumni Matt Voelker '09, Amy Klainer '10 and Sullivan '96.
