Goucher College issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.
Kelly Budge ’18 was featured in "ASBMB Today" for creating a chapter of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) at Goucher, as well as for her research accomplishments and endeavors to become a doctor: http://ow.ly/SUPF30lPhQR #GoucherProud
Before leaving Goucher, her study abroad experience at a clinic in a remote town in Kenya inspired her to improve maternal and newborn health. The biochemistry and molecular biology major is enrolled in a master’s program at the University of Liverpool. Budge plans to attend medical school where she hopes to study obstetric care, which focuses on pregnancy and childbirth.
While at Goucher, Budge founded a chapter of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and was inducted into the ASBMB honor society this summer. She served as president for a year, and helped create and present 3-D models of proteins at the ASBMB national conference in San Diego.
