Stevenson University issued the following announcement on April 29.
Stevenson University announces the appointment of Michael Stanton, CPA, as Vice President of Finance and Administration & Chief Financial Officer. Stanton brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position, including the past 14 years spent in higher education financial administration. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President for Administration & CFO for Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. He will be joining Stevenson for the start of the fall 2019 semester.
“Mike has held senior leadership roles in higher education and brings an extensive background in university financial operations and strategy,” said Elliot Hirshman, Ph.D., President of Stevenson University. “His breadth of experience overseeing facilities, capital projects, athletics, public safety, and dining and auxiliary services will also serve the university well. We welcome him to our Stevenson community.”
In addition to his tenure at Nichols College, Stanton previously served as the Controller for the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he was responsible for the integrity of the financial operations and an annual operating budget in excess of $700 million. He also served as Director of Accounting for the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority, providing financial operations oversight for this nonprofit college savings and loans operation with more than $1 billion in assets and an annual operating budget in excess of $50 million. His private industry background includes managing financial reporting for international naval ship systems manufacturer Rolls-Royce Naval Marine, supporting its president and CFO with business-critical reporting and analysis.
Originally from Walpole, Mass., Stanton holds a Master in Business Administration from Bryant University in Rhode Island. He and his wife, Marianne, have three sons.
