BALTIMORE COUNTY: After 50+years in the broadcast industry, local television icon and longtime Baltimore County resident Stan Stovall will anchor his last newscast on WBAL-TV tonight

Broadcast

Baltimore County issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.

After 50+years in the broadcast industry, local television icon and longtime Baltimore County resident Stan Stovall will anchor his last newscast on WBAL-TV tonight.

The County Executive was invited to say a few words at his retirement party last week, where former and current colleagues gathered to share their admiration and respect for Stan. The newsroom was packed with attendees who shared memories, funny stories and notable experiences with their friend – there were definitely a few tears.

The longtime WBAL-TV anchor (who also spent years on WMAR-TV) said the following to Baltimore Style magazine: “I’d like to be remembered as someone who broke racial glass ceilings and performed my on-air duties and off-air commitment to community service with a high degree of class, professionalism, truth, honesty, dignity and compassion for anyone who crossed paths with me. I hope I have been a positive role model, especially for young Black men and women to aspire to be the best they can be in any profession they choose.”
